Science progresses one funeral at a time

Short article, so accurate language:

The boast that “when the facts change, I change my mind” is a proud one. “When the facts change, I reinforce my prejudices” is truer.

It amazes me, resistance to change is not only hard in my country, but worldwide. Mexico still exporting meat after our 2009 H1N1 pandemic; after 2020's pandemic: Chinese government reopened their wet markets; American government approves a bailout for meat and dairy industries; people in Spain emptying animal meat shelves over Beyond Meat plat-based products, presumably tasting the same.

It's been easier to yell out at people to vaccine their kids even when "their personal choice is not to"; it's been easier to violate Free Move and Association and Assembly human right freedoms during quarantines, preventing them to gather with their relatives if they're more than 10 members; it's even been easier to almost shut down the whole world's economy, to bury our thousands of dead; than to change. We're leaving the task to our children perhaps because we already know we die so science can progress, otherwise the Earth would still be flat and the center of the Universe...
