Unfortunately, I believe the invention of "forced socialization" has been far worse and more detrimental to the human species, than "the invention of loneliness". Forcing two kids with different intellectual abilities to share space for at least 8 hours a day, every day in the week, is more likely to bring pain to the smartest one and resentment to the average one.
It's not only too optimistic, but even naive, to believe the few smart kids are going to pull up the rest of the silly ones if they are enclosed in a classroom. The stupidity is and will always be funnier and statistically more compelling to the masses, because intelligence is scarse in proportion to the population. Something that is more compelling and abundant will always dominate just by the brute force of the numbers. The kids that do not surrender are simply forced to watch the grievous spectacle of irrelevant average human behavior, rituals and reasoning.
Curious individuals could still be wrong, but solitude allows the necessary process of tryal and error.
On the other hand, when people is allowed the privilege of solitude, they are allowed to explore ideas the average minds are too lazy or even scared to explore -lazy most of the times, but also scared in a shocking number of times-. The non-curious minds also benefit from solitude because there is no comparison with brighter minds. There is no frustration on incompetency and hence, there are more chances of being non-defensively open minded. An additional benefit to such open-mindness is that the stupidity reinforcement is less strong. If we put together 10 stupid students in a classroom, they will all tend to form a hierarchy in which they will coincide with the thought process of their leaders; just becuase of the well-known human hive-mentality, that makes individuals to adapt to the environment and lose their individuality. If we put the same group of stupid students in classrooms with a capacity of 3 or 4 students per room, there will be more diversity in thinking. They will still be stupid, but the sole diversity of thinking and incapability of each group to appeal to the numbers to state who is right or wrong helps in some degree to less biased mindsets.
